An Auditing and Assessment Tool for Temporary Workforce Performance Excellence (TWPE)

Introduction

As so many organisations make greater use of a temporary contract workforce, even greater attention needs to be devoted to the whole process of sourcing, deploying and integrating workforce members in to the client users' business model. The assessment tool we have developed highlights the key elements of this process and the key areas to be addressed by all the parties involved.

Fundamental to the assessment system are the criteria — the standards to be measured. Working with users and suppliers, Doug and his colleagues, Michael Cross and David Morgan, have developed a robust, workable, practical approach, involving seven key categories. These are split into those which provide direction and capability, and those which capture benefits and results.

The development and use of the assessment tool is a continuous improvement process. As new information is gleaned, it is incorporated so that the next time the tool is used, it is even more effective.

Why use the Assessment Tool

The tool provides a structured means of self-assessment, for both users and suppliers, plus a direct way to improve the strategic use of the temporary workforce in a business / organisation, reducing related risks and enhancing performance.

The tool also provides a means for sharing experiences and information with other businesses or departments within an organisation, so helping to stimulate improvement in the overall standard of temporary workforce management, in particular with regard to its status, recognition and value within a business.

Finally, the assessment tool (TWPE) helps to emphasise to both employment businesses and their clients that there is a total process at work here, which cannot just be compartmentalised and that everyone within this process has a role to play.
